Become a Volunteer Driver
Our volunteer drivers are the heart of LIFT Grundy. By giving a ride, you’re helping neighbors get to the places they need to go and stay connected to care and daily life. Requirements
To become a volunteer driver, you must:

Be at least 21 years old

Complete an application and background check
-
Have a valid Tennessee driver’s license and safe driving record

Have auto insurance that meets the Tennessee minimum (25/50/25)

Have a clean, safe, and reliable vehicle
-
Attend a training session (and annual refresher training)
-
Have access to a smartphone
-
Be able to complete to at least one drive per month
Driver Commitments
To help keep riders, drivers, and our community safe, comfortable, and respected, we ask all volunteer drivers to commit to the following:

I will conduct myself in a professional courteous manner, be friendly, and understanding

I will not accept tips, donations, or request any meals or gas to be paid by the rider

I will take my volunteer work seriously

I will treat everyone as an individual, and whatever their personal difficulties, emphasize their abilities

I will not make derogatory or discriminatory remarks
-
I will refrain from giving personal advice on family, personal, or medical matters
-
I will not use alcoholic beverages or mood-altering drugs while serving as a volunteer

I will refrain from using my cell phone while driving
-
I realize that sexual harassment with riders is not professional and not allowed
-
I will refrain from smoking in order to provide a smoke-free environment

I understand I must keep rider information confidential

I recognize that as a volunteer, I represent the LIFT Grundy program. I have an obligation to uphold this Code of Conduct
